The sentence is wrong (W). it’s already has a verb (tired) and extra verb (was), but  there's no subject. The concert is not Subject, it is object of preposition of after. To be correct it need a verb like he, she or it.

In the morning after the concert she was tired.

2.    The doctor gave the patient a prescription.

The sentence is right (R). There is subject and verb, the sentence gave as a verb and the doctor as a subject.

Finding Subjects and Verbs. 
Identified, there is one subject MARK TWAIN and no Verbs. Verbs is needed to complete the sentence.

From the analysis of the response, it can be concluded the answer (A) CALLED is the correct answer could complete the sentence.
