Betawi Traditional Foods


Here is some food into the culinary culture of the city of Jakarta (Betawi). Typical Betawi food is very diverse, therefore I write Betawi traditional foods that suit the tastes of my tongue.

1.    Gado-Gado

Gado-gado Betawi traditional food is where all the personnel in the food no animal elements. I prefer this food when combined using a rice cake. (Hmm yummy) is very suitable for vegetarians.

2.    Kerak Telor

This food is made from ingredients such as such as white glutinous rice, chicken egg or duck egg, ebi (dried shrimp) and dry roasted grated coconut and fried onions, red peppers, kencur, ginger, pepper, salt and sugar as complementary spice. The food is simple glutinous rice mixed with spices and then cooked egg on top of a small pot on the coals until a crust, grilled over a charcoal stove where the seat pan at the bottom but the top of the pan only (where the egg crust be) will also be reversed until the seat pan facing up and facing food coals. Once cooked, the egg crust will be sprinkled with fried onions and serundeng.

3.    Kue Rangi

Betawi food made from rice flour (finely ground white rice) and rice flour dough is baked in the semicircular mold over low heat. Once cooked, the cake is removed and eaten with melted sugar water red and dark brown. It was savory and sweet.

4.    Asinan Betawi

Types of food which consists of marinated vegetables (cabbage, mustard greens, carrots) and flavored peanuts (peanut sauce is also given vinegar and sweet savory taste a bit salty), then sprinkled with yellow crackers.

5.    Soto Betawi

Not spicy but savory marinade. Personnel diet consists of only meat (can be chicken, to beef), potatoes, and onions. Privileges are not the original broth of coconut milk as it is now circulating, but from pure cow's milk.

6.    Semur Jengkol

Most people really like the food betawi this because it is a typical and appetite enhancer. Jengkol that although it is small but can cause urine to smell and bad breath can make us dizzy.

7.    Kembang Goyang

Where is shaped like flowers and tastes sweet.

8.    Getuk Lindri

Type of food made from finely grated cassava, steamed after mixed with sugar, then cut into pieces with a special fluted blade. Served with grated coconut steamed and salted.

9.    Kue Cucur

Because of the way the way bikinnya shed large amounts of the dough on a baking sheet. Language betawinya "ngocor"; but by outsiders smoothed so "ngucur", be a "trickle".

10. Dodol

Dodoo is very legit which consists of glutinous rice, brown sugar, granulated sugar, coconut milk, pandan leaves are cooked. How to make it also takes a long time.

11.  Wajik

This food tastes sweet which consists of a mixture of glutinous rice, grated coconut, brown sugar, coconut milk, salt.

12.  Putu

Putu own cake is a cake which is steamed in a bamboo stick and eaten with grated coconut.

13.  Kue Cubit
This type of cake is really so tiny pinch once discharged directly in the mouth. That's why the cake named Pinch.

14.  Kue Ape / Tete
Mixture of wheat flour, rice flour, sugar, pandan juice. Because the Betawi dialect is quite unique, so the cake is named in a unique way as well. This cake is also often referred to as 'cake breasts' because of its prominence in the middle and at the edges so krispy.

15.  Kue Cincin
How to eat it, that is by putting it in my fingers wear rings. The material is coconut, rice flour, sugar, pandan water.

Steamed Cake Bolu



Yesterday I tried to make a steamed sponge cake assisted by my mother, although the results are quite good but I am happy to make it. I made ​​a few steamed sponge cake, yes finally able to run also eaten by my family..
Steamed Cake Ingredients Bolu:
Eggs 2 eggs
225 grams of sugar
SP 1/2 tablespoon
300 grams of wheat flour
200 ml soda water (white color)
pink food coloring 1 drop
1 tablespoon brown pasta

How to Make Cake Steamed Bolu:
1.       Before preparing the dough would that first pot steamer heats up really hot or approximately 15 minutes.
2.       While waiting for the hot pot, can use the time to prepare the batter. Beat eggs, sugar and SP until fluffy and thick. Enter the flour and soda alternately with stirring.
3.       Set aside 15 tablespoons of batter and mix with the chocolate paste in a separate bowl or baking dish, stir well. Then Mix the remaining dough with a pink dye (main mix)
4.       Prepare mold steamed cakes, steamed sponge Cover mold with a paper cup. Spoon the batter pink to as high as mold. then pour a tablespoon of chocolate mixture in the center of the dough pink. Steam for 10 minutes over high heat on a steam pot that has been preheated before.
5.       Dough on to produce at least 15 Bolus steamed fruit cake.

Reason :  the word "return" to and followed by the word "owner" followed by an adverb. the option C &  D are almost look alike. But answers (a)is redudancy. (b) the indirect object (original owner) preceds the direct subject (The wallet). (c) originally is adverb

Reason : The best dependent clause is D because the dependent clause that is explained what is the hospital owes.

4. Sarah…..that she could not attend classes next week

D.  Is telling her professors

Reason : Sarah is telling her professor that she could not attend classes next week. The tenses is must be present continuous in this sentece because the event is happening now. that sarah is telling her professor about her presence matter for the next week class. S + To be (am, are, is) + present participle (bentuk-ing).

5.The artist was asked to show some paintings at the contest because…
A.   He painted very good
B.   They believed he painted well
C.   Of their belief that he was an good artist
D.  The judges had been told of his talents

Reason : Because, there is a sequence of tense. “The artist was asked to show some paintings at the contest” is simple past tense and “because he painted very good” is simple past tense too. The dependent clause “he painted very good” is compatible with previous clause and “he” in the clause is meaning to “the artist”.

Reason :
The sentence above must be parallelism. Stopped and ticketed, both of them are verb…but have to pay a fine is not suitable, so it must be change with verb too.

Reason :

Reason :
The sentence above must be parallelism. Open and warm, both of them are adjective.  So must be following with adjective too. Gives a welcome feeling  is a new clause. Change it with welcome.
The correct sentence :
The atmosphere in Andalucia is open, warm, and welcome to all who have the good fortune to visit there.

10. Some of the people were standing in the street watched the parade, while others

Incorrect sentence : C
Reason :
The sentence above must be parallelism. Standing and Singing, both of them are verb in present continuous / the happening event. So watched must be change with the same tenses too.
The correct sentence :
Some of the people were standing in the street watching the parade, while others were singing songs.
